About the Pigtowner
This Little Pigtowner went to the market, this Little Pigtowner went home, and this Little Pigtowner went weeweewee! on the internet to roam!
Hello, I live in Pigtown. No, it’s not the ghetto: it’s a thriving urban environment with a community dedicated to improve the quality of life of its citizens to make a sustainable neighborhood for this generation, and future generations to come. I moved here in 2005 with my husband to live somewhere a little more quiet than Federal Hill but just as convenient. He walks 15 minutes to work every day and (as of 2008 July) I take the MARC train into NoVA. I’m a scientist by trade, so this blog might not be written very well, but I hope it will be a valuable resource for other Pigtowners. Or rather, Citizens of Pigtown. (I still have a hard time with the fact that the acronym for the community association is COP.)
I was raised in Howard County, MD for the majority of my life and was destined to never leave until I met my husband, who lived and worked in Baltimore. Our lives were changed forever when we fell in love with each other and the city - a city filled with art, music, and food! – and decided to live here. Our goals were simple: to lead sustainable, happy lives. So far, we’ve done our best and with a rising cost of living, we’re glad to be here.
The Pigtowner was started to help with the hodgepodge of online city resources. I found that it was difficult for me to figure out what was going on with my career and school and wished that there was a resource for all things that were going on and guidance of where to go. My career is changing and school is ALMOST over, so this blog is a journal for discovering Pigtown.
I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I enjoy writing it.
